Made by award winning winemaker, Ntsiki Biyela who made history by becoming South Africa’s first Black female winemaker. After working in Bordeaux and heading the winemaking team at Stellekaya, Ntsiki created her own wine brand, Aslina, named after her grandmother.
Umsasane is Zulu for the umbrella tree (acacia) which provides shelter for many animals and was Ntsiki’s grandmother’s nickname.
This is a stunning Bordeaux-style blend from select vineyards in Stellenbosch – sweet, ripe tannins, complimented by fresh red and black fruits, and a cedar spice from careful use of high quality oak.
